Changes to Leopold Primary School
In May 2024, following a period of consultation, Brent Council made the decision to reduce Leopold Primary School’s Published Admission Number (PAN) from 120 to 60 pupils from September 2025 and to phase out the use of the Gwenneth Rickus site by July 2027.
The proposals generated significant concern within our school community. The Governing Board made representations during the consultation process, reflecting concerns about the proposed changes and their impact on the school, our pupils and families. Despite these concerns, Brent Council Cabinet approved the proposals, citing falling pupil numbers across the local area and the financial pressures associated with maintaining surplus school places.
This is the final year of the transition. The Gwenneth Rickus site now operates with 3 classes and is still accepting new admissions until July 2027. All children in Year 2-5 will have a place at the Hawkshead Road site from September 2027.
Leopold Primary School is committed to managing the transition in the best interests of our children and families. We will continue to work to minimise disruption and ensure that our pupils receive the high-quality education, care and opportunities they deserve throughout the transition.
